Thor Noguero

Thor was a loved cat and family member who fought for life for months and succumbed to a succession of medical interventions at some of Arizona's top veterinary facilities (21-09, 21-10). The circumstances around his death led to his person becoming politically involved in hopes of changing state laws regarding veterinary practice.

Thor and his brothers found their new home by becoming foster fails at only a few weeks of age in early 2014. Given Thor's personality it's not hard to see how that would have happened. Described by his human stepmom as her big love, she relates that Thor was "the sweetest, kindest, most gentle kitty cat I've ever known." Full of life, he loved to play, snuggle, and cuddle, and he had the sweetest meow.

He was an alpha male who was incredibly strong yet incredibly gentle, seeing himself as the protector of everyone in the household; nonetheless, he found the time to throw himself on the floor asking for belly rubs. Thor was also very communicative, slow-blinking to show his love. His stepmom remembers that he "had the most beautiful eyes and expressions," reminding us that "his love and kindness were evident to all that knew him."

Strong yet kind and gentle, his death and absence caused heartbreak and illness among his surviving family, both human and feline. The scars of losing him will never heal, and his absence is remembered every day.
